Post System Message in Background

Thursday, 21 June 2018 18:14

In some cases, there may be a need to post the system message in background on a regular/ad-hoc basis.

Here is the program that can be used to post the system message using the background job. Please visit URL http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/Generate+system+message+via+background+job, thanks to  Steffen Fröhlich for this wonderful program.

Global Directory Growth

Thursday, 21 June 2018 18:14

Is your global  (/sapmnt//sys) directory being flooded with the files WF_LOG_* ?

The files with WF_FLOG_* name will be created if you have activated SAPConnect Trace under SCOT - > Utilities - > Tracing, according to SAP, SAPConnect trace must  be deactivated in productive operation. If for some reason, you need the trace files, then you must reorganize the trace files using transaction SWT0.

Has SE38 Tcode access been restricted in Production environment?

Here is the easy way to see/execute any program.

Goto SM36(yes, you should have access to this tcode)

Give some Job name say 'Test Job'  then enter, in Program and Variant screen, give the Program/Report you want to see or execute, then Save.

SO36 Auto Forwarding

Thursday, 21 June 2018 18:14

it is an interesting tip, have you guys ever thought of auto forwarding the emails coming into your SAPOffice Inbox?

Use SO36 transaction to achieve the same, input values are self-explanatory, I guess, I need not spend time in explaining each and every input field.

ICONS in SM02

Do you want to use ICONs while posting a system message? Here is the tip to make it work.

Having an icon like warning/alarm will make the system message more attractive, for example, the same can be done by having the icon code inside the message.

To get to know the icon codes, go to SE16 - ICON -> Download the list into an excel sheet to get the code that you may want to use it in the system message.

Once you have the code with you, post the message text with the code attached to it, for example, @1D@ System will be down in another few minutes time, please log off.
